Starcraft Broodwar. Simply called as Broodwar, SC1 or BW.

An RTS game was created on 1998 by Blizzard.
With playable 3 races such as,
Terran (the embodement of mankind)
Protoss (highly technically advance alien species)
Zerg (bionic aliens; like we saw like those of Starship Troopers movies)

Undeniably WAS and IS the best RTS game ever made.
Notoriously balanced game with awesome gameplay.
Highly recognized and respected as the game that started it all.
Single handedly created esports as we saw today.
Together with KeSPA (Korean e-Sports Association) build and pave the foundation of esports.
Tournaments started on 2000 until on 2002 when the official leagues and teams were formed.
Super stars are born. Celebrity status comparable to those artists and idols.
Playing computer games became a legit work.
For 2000 to 2012 it was Korea's national esports.
Broadcasted daily on gaming cable TV chanels in Korea such as OGN and MBC.
Yearly sponsorships and salaries as much as 400,000 USD on players.
Over 4,000,000,000+ USD prize money were given away on its heyday, mostly in South Korea.
Fan clubs are made, notoriously 70%+ are women. Not to mention among young kids too at 5-9 years old.
This was the game that not only playered by men but also women.
There was also a league for women too.


Though KeSPA remove BW as an official title game on 2012, it still remain as a force on esports.
Retired players landed jobs in the entertainment industry and absorbed by the company team sponsors.

With Guiness Book of records like;
"Best Selling PC Strategy Game"
"Largest Income in Professional Gaming"
"Largest Audience for a Game Competition" when 120,000 fans turned out to watch the final of the SKY proleague season 2005

My favorite game. Absolutely the best pc game I ever played in my entire life.
If there was a game that I will bet/gamble my life on, its this game.
Thats how Im so confident on my skills. (that was way back on heyday)

I could remember my girl friend cried because our favorite player lost.
Not only her but her classmates as well.
She was only 12 years old that time.
The passion she has for the player as a fan was remarkable.
Made banners, accessories and etc.
Even with SC2, LOL and other games... perhaps i can confidently say there was NO OTHER GAME that cames close to this on girls and fan service. NO ONE! NO ONE!

For those who never heard of esports yet, you have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what your missing with as a gamer.
